News of the Beach 1

News from Birmingham
At the end of August we sent our reporter to the Discworldcon in Birmingham, searching for news, gossip and publicity.
He returned with the news that he found a Guest of Honour for Cabbagecon 2! At the time of writing we can’t yet reveal the name of our guest, but as soon as we receive official confirmation of his presence we will share this with you in a newsflash. What we can tell you now is that he is from the UK and very well known in Discworldly circles. His new book is scheduled to be published in December.
And no, he does not wear a hat.
The trip to the convention in Birmingham resulted in a lot of positive reactions. In fact, if everyone who showed interest decides to register for the convention, we might be forced to close registration early. So don’t wait too long and register now for Cabbagecon 2!

New on the website
We added a picture gallery with pictures taken at Cabbagecon 1 and a few impressions from Dwcon 7a in Birmingham.
If you would like to contribute one or more photographs, please send them to info@dutchdwcon.nl.
Please note: for obvious reasons we cannot publish photographs that are subject to copyright. We assume that any photos sent to us are free to be published on the website.
We will also add a forum at some time in October. If everything goes to plan, that is. But hey, you know how it is with plans, they do change sometimes. Anyhow, we do the best we can to have the forum up and running in October.

Programme
We are happy to tell you that the programme is starting to take shape. Right now, we can announce that there will be a charity auction. The main item (for now) will be a brand new copy of ‘The Long Earth’, kindly donated by Waterstone’s and signed by both Stephen Baxter and Sir Terry Pratchett!

Help us
Organising a convention is great fun, but also a lot of work, and we could still use a bit of help. Do you have some great ideas about the programme? Do you want to make a request or put in a suggestion? Contact us on info@dutchdwcon.nl and share your thoughts with us. We could still do with your help.
